Quilting Out and About

Here are a few events we modern quilters should check out and get involved in.

Maiwa Textile Symposium 2011
The workshops that Maiwa lines up each year are always amazing. This year there are 3 workshops being taught by the Quilters of Gee’s Bend. There are also classes on colour theory, discharge quilting, embroidery and an abundance of other fiber and fabric related techniques.
Check out their schedule and register for a class today.

Ladner Quilt Walk and Car Show
The Quilted Bear Quilt Shop in Ladner is looking for modern and traditional quilters to submit quilts as part of their annual quilt walk taking place on August 21st. Download the registration form here or visit the Quilted Bear with your quilt by August 15th.

Quilting at the V&A in London
With all the unrest happening in London and around the UK, I am thinking fondly of the time I spent living there several years ago. One of my favorite places was the V&A Museum. Luckily, their website is an amazing substitute when hopping on a plane just isn’t in the cards. You can browse their collections, read a wide range of articles, and even use their patchwork pattern generator. Spent a few hours one evening there, and maybe peek around the other collections they have.
