Our guild’s next big event is Vancouver Mini Maker Faire. It happens this Saturday and Sunday, June 1st and 2nd in the Forum at the PNE Grounds (corner of Hastings and Renfrew) in Vancouver. Hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days. Find out more at www.vancouver.makerfaire.ca.
Maker Faire is billed as a “family friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness – a celebration of the Maker movement”. It’s a collection of crafters, techies, homesteaders, re-purposers, scientists and tinkerers.
This is the third year VMQG has participated. Some of the features of our booth this year will be Krista’s QR code quilt (scan it to go to the guild’s website), quilts with a techie theme, quilts in various stages of construction, ongoing demos by our talented members, and a hands-on modern fabric design activity.
If you’ve never been to Maker Faire, this is the year to check it out! Any VMQG member who would like to get involved and hasn’t yet signed up to volunteer can contact Elsie Sands at firstname.lastname@example.org Or just stop by the booth to say “hi”.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.vancouverminimakerfaire.brownpapertickets.com until 8:00 p.m. on May 31st and after that at the door. Members have been emailed a discount code for friends and family of Makers, so check your inbox before buying tickets!
See you at the show!
