I can’t believe it’s time for the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire again! This totally amazing event is happening this Saturday and Sunday and marks our 4th year with a booth. Grab your partners, kids, parents, friends, strangers off the street…. and come down to the PNE forum to see some amazing things, including the VMQG booth, of course!
For those of you who haven’t attended in the past, Maker Faire is (quoted from the VMMF website):
“…a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.”
In past years, there have been such amazing sights as… a robotic spider vehicle you can pedal, a remote controlled 40 foot steampunk dragon, build-your-own bacon makers, pyrotechnics, crafts, 3-D printing, hacked computer wizardry, etc. There is also a pretty amazing vendor area and some of the best food trucks in Vancouver serving up delicious yummies.
This year, our hands-on activity is big stitch quilting with brightly coloured perle cotton onto a whole cloth quilt. We will also have some quilting demos going on at the booth and a wide selection of modern quilts on display.
Hope to see you all this weekend!
