Come join Amy in making Perfect Pouches: Zipper Edition! We’ll spend the day mastering the zipper and different aspects of the pouch. You’ll leave well on your way to completing 4 pouches and with the confidence to make many more, just in time for the holiday gift-giving season!
We’ll start out the day making unlined vinyl toiletry bags. We’ll go through some of the tips that I talk about in my Vinyl/Laminate talk, and I’ll show you how easy it is to work with! This is a great introduction to pouches, since it’s unlined. People who want to make glitter vinyl pouches will have the option to buy a kit for an additional fee.
After the vinyl pouches, we’ll switch out our needles and move on to cotton to make cute little pyramid coin pouches. These pouches are partially lined, so you’ll learn how to sew lining onto a zipper. We’ll also discuss different ways of finishing visible seams inside pouches.
We’ll move from pyramids to pouches with boxed corners. You’ll learn how to draft a pattern to match any size of zipper, fabric print or leftover quilt block without losing the shape of the pouch. You’ll practice sewing lining to zippers again, and make a fully lined pouch. We’ll also talk about different ways of finishing your zipper ends and discuss the pros and cons of each. And while we’re talking about options, we’ll go through the different stabilizers that you can use for pouches, depending on what look you want for your finished pouch.
We’ll finish up the day making the super cute dumpling/pierogi pouch. The zipper sewn onto a curve is a bit more challenging, but after all the practice you’ve had throughout the day, you’ll be ready!
