Hi, Robins — I have some fun and easy summer reading & sewing for you.
This month we are going to put some squares in space, like the wiggling blocks in Natalia Bonner & Kathleen Whiting’s Modern One-Block Quilts (http://www.ctpub.com/modern-one-block-quilts/ ), or pick a score and the float blocks as done in Sherri Lynn Wood’s An Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters https://www.amazon.ca/Improv-Handbook-Modern-Quilters-Courageously/dp/1617691380.
Neither of these techniques has an online tutorial that I could find, so check your bookshelf, ask a guild mate like me, get on Amazon, or hit the library.
If you are improv adverse go with the wiggling blocks but make the featured squares small, like 2″ with a 1″ strip of the same background fabric all the way through. Either way, please make the finished piece about 5-6″ wide and added to the side of the quilt top opposite the log cabins.
