October Meeting Feature with Kellie Kaczmarek – Silly Moon Quilting

For this October meeting, we are happy to have Kellie Kaczmarek from Silly Moon Quilting. We asked Kellie to give us a little information about herself and here is what she has to say,

I am a Canadian quilter, business owner, wife, mother and owner of two very large dogs.  I have been quilting for a short time but have jumped in with both feet!  I purchased a longarm after quilting for approximately a year and needed “rulers” to keep me within the lines, so to speak.  So, I made them!

I am fortunate to have experience in, and access to CNC Milling equipment, as well as a variety of software programs that enable me (along with my math guru hubby) to create machine quilting rulers that will do just what I want them to. I really enjoy coming up with new ideas, that make ruler work fun and accessible for all quilters.

I love attending retreats, guild meetings and trade shows not only to showcase our products, but to meet quilters, and take in all the great feedback and suggestions they bring to the table.

Silly Moon Quilting Co is proudly Canadian, and all our rulers are designed and manufactured in beautiful British Columbia.  The company started less that a year ago, and we are excited to see steady growth with a large number of repeat customers!  I always warn people, rulers are like potato chips, you can’t have just one!!”

Kellie will be bringing her Juki, and will be set up to show on a large screen how to use a few of their rulers.  She will also be covering the basic of ruler work as well as explaining the difference between domestic and longarm rulers. There will also be rulers available for sale during the break.

October is ramping up to be an exciting month! See you there!

September Meeting Feature with Kyle Parent Trunk Show

We are happy to announce a trunk show with Kyle Parent!

Kyle Parent will share his work with us at our September meeting.  Kyle is a teacher, a tailor, the son of a quilter, and a Vancouver-based textile artist.

Kyle Parent @_k_t_w_p_

His relationship to sewing began at an early age while watching his mother sew. Working alongside her, Kyle has learned the techniques with which he explores his medium today. Before shifting his focus to quilting, Kyle worked in menswear, and had his own line of shirting.

He blends these traditional methods with his background in tailoring.  You can see some examples of Kyle’s work at  http://www.ktwpquilts.com/ and on IG @__k_t_w_p__ .

Monday July 15th Meeting Reminder

This is a reminder that our next meeting will be on Monday, July 15th, 2019!

Hey everyone!  It is time for our annual outdoor meeting at Trout Lake!  Every year, this meeting is a bit more casual, we don’t have a planned event just bring your family or friends, come early and set up for a picnic dinner.  There is a lovely playground for the kids to have fun!

As usual, there is always a chance of rain.  We don’t have a back up plan this year so if it rains, the meeting will not be happening.  We will announce on our Facebook page at 12pm noon if it looks like we are going forward with it.

Please be sure to bring a Modern Show & Tell quilt for us to see!  We all inspiration!
