Meeting notices and recaps

November 19th meeting reminder

We’re looking forward to a great meeting on Monday! I’m reposting this meeting reminder so it’ll be on the front page of the website until our meeting on the 19th. Hope to see you there!

As always, our swaps and challenges are optional, but if you’re participating in all of them, this is what you’ll be finishing up this weekend:

1) Your Kona Modern Quilts Challenge project. This challenge uses fabric designed by Cynthia Frenette (plus optional additional Kona solids) to make any project you’d like! We can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with!

2) Your pincushion for the Modern Quilt Guild pincushion swap organized by the Kansas City MQG. Please attach two labels to your pincushion (as in the photo above). The large label should have your name, email, blog (if applicable), VMQG, filling type, and whether or not you’re going to QuiltCon. The small label should just have your name and guild and will be affixed to the pincushion that will be coming to you to keep everything organized.

3) Your bag of scraps for the holiday scrap challenge and swap! Bring in a sandwich-sized baggie full of scraps (approximately a fat quarter’s worth) and tuck your name inside the bag somewhere. We’ll swap bags at this meeting and bring the completed items to the December 17th meeting.

4) Completed items to sell at Got Craft? holiday edition. If you’ve volunteered to make merchandise for the VMQG’s booth at Got Craft?, this is your chance to bring in your finished items. You can see tutorials for mini bunting bannersneedlebooks, and hexie coasters at Amy’s blog. There will also be opportunities to hand in finished items in December.

Phew! You’re welcome to participate in all or none of the above. No matter what, if you’re coming to the meeting, you’ll need the basic event information, which follows.

VMQG is so fortunate to have such generous members who donate door prizes to our meetings! The prizes are fantastic and many our made by our EXTREMELY talented members. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank You!!!

We all love that little bit of anticipation, wondering with bated breath, before the number of the door prize winner is announced….and then the happy face and happy dance of the winner.

Our 2nd birthday is coming up (Yeah) and we are celebrating at our June meeting. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could go home with a present from our party?

So everyone please bring a prize to our next meeting and you will be sure to get one to take home too.

Sonya has captured some of our previous prizes and winners in this photo retrospective – thanks Sonja for your wonderful photos!

From the parking lot, walk east towards the main campus, and turn right immediately past the bookstore. Go in the next set of doors on your right and take the elevator straight ahead of you up to the fifth floor. (Ignore the set of elevators on your left as they don’t go up to the fifth floor). Turn left out of the elevator and you’ll be at Room C509!
Parking: The parking fee is a $3.25 flat rate after 5pm. The entrance to the parking lot is off of W 49th Ave, just west of the campus. (the entrance is marked by the little red triangle at the top left corner of this campus directory). You pay for parking in the lobby of the library (Building L), not in the parking lot, so be sure to remember your parking spot number. There is limited street parking in the area but you may be lucky enough to find a free spot!

Transit: The campus is just two blocks from the Langara-49th Ave Canada Line stop. The 49 stops just outside the campus.
