COURSE #1
“Speed Date with Improv” with Krista Hennebury
This course is a face-paced one day workshop for the improv-curious quilter who’s ready to let go and work without stressing, obsessing or second guessing!
In the first portion of the class Krista will introduce you to multiple ways to make improve quilt blocks and in the second half you will play on the design wall, searching for serendipitous intersections of line and shape in a final layout. You’ll learn how to jigsaw your piecing together into a pleasing abstract composition that will serve as a mini-improv sampler reference for future work.
Students are encouraged to work with solids and limit their fabric palette to black, white plus one colour, this will create high visual contrast and definition in the quilt.

COURSE #3
“Seaglass Quilting” – Allie McCathren
There is no one pattern to make a seaglass quilt, and that’s the beauty of them.
Just like the pieces of found glass it’s named for, shaped by time and water, each quilt tells a story. Allie will show you how to combine fabrics from your beloved scraps (and not so beloved ones as well) to make gorgeous art quilts.
This class teaches the technique of how to make these quilt, and walks you through the entire process of design, layout, quilting, and finishing the quilt. This is an excellent stash buster project, as it uses smaller pieces of fabric that do not have to match (but it does help if they are in the same color family). Allie will help with fabric selection and how to identify color families in this course. Most of the seaglass quilts she makes shift from blue to green, but the joy of these quilts is that you can make them using any colors you want. They’re also a great way to showcase those small pieces from special fabrics that you want to memorialize.
Allie uses fabric and thread to “paint”, and quilting is her happy place. Her background is in marine biology and her love of science and the ocean finds its way into her work, whether she mean it to or not. She is all about using scraps and loves playing with texture and colour to create interesting art pieces.

Get inspired and leave with action items to get to work in your own studio.
Deborah Boschert is an artist, author and teacher. She creates art quilts with layers of fabric, paint and stitching. The personal symbols and details in her work reflect her experiences and feelings about places she’s lived and the things she’s done. Her award-winning art quilts have been exhibited in quilt shows and art galleries throughout the United States and internationally. She has appeared on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show.
