In the quilting world, many of us are able to afford the cost of a workshop/membership renewal, while many are not. Recognizing this, the Executive established the VMQG Bursary Fund, which was seeded with an initial budget allocation of $300. Note: This Budget allocation was approved by the VMQG membership in the fall of 2020.

The VMQG offers numerous workshops throughout the year, designed to appeal to the widest array of member interests possible. It is important to us that everyone who wants to attend a workshop is able to do so, and that the cost of the workshop is not an obstacle. We also realize that, at times, the membership renewal fee may stand in the way of a member renewing.

VMQG Bursary Eligibility and Application Process
Any VMQG member in good standing may apply using the form, Application for Bursary Assistance, found under the Workshops and Sew-Ins tab on the VMQG website. Members are invited to apply for ONE bursary per fiscal year. Bursaries will be awarded based on available funds.

Completion of the Application for Assistance form does not guarantee that funds will be awarded. Bursary applicants will be notified by the President or Vice President of the status of their application.  All bursary applicants and recipients will remain anonymous.

How can you help?
In the spirit of paying it forward, we invite VMQG members who are able to donate to the Bursary Fund to e-transfer any amount to treasurer@vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca; please include the words “Donation to the Bursary Fund” on the transfer form.

Please note that these donations are not eligible for a charitable tax receipt as the VMQG is not a registered charity.

Workshop registration forms will contain a reminder that donations to the bursary fund, of all amounts, are welcome.
