This month’s challenge reminded me of boats and water, there is something nautical about it. That shouldn’t be too surprising as the tutorial comes from our westcoast neighbour, Seattle’s Debbie of A Quilter’s Table.

Why reinvent the wheel when Debbie has done an excellent job with her tutorial. The link is here: X Marks the Improv Tutorial

Our guidelines:

  • solid blues for the background and solid colours for the strips;
  • aim for 12.5″ to 13″ in height, widths can vary; and
  • trim the corners only, but leave the final trim for the winner so they can trim to fit all the blocks together.

For each block you make you get one ticket to win the lot. I’ve tested the tutorial and will say these blocks are quick and easy; a great use for those long skinny strips that accumulate.
