For May, I thought it would be fun to pick a simple block and then crank up the volume with colour and prints. This month’s block aims to put some of those bolder fabrics in your stash to use. The palette is berry colours – prints with reds, pinks, oranges and purples – on a grey background (solid or low volume print). As we are all likely sewing from what we have on hand, any shade of grey will fit the bill…and, yes, that was a duck pun.

Our finished blocks will be 8 inches square. Instructions are available in this great tutorial by Elaine Huff.
