This is a quick and easy block to make. There are a number of options for assembly so you may want to make more than one block, and hopefully an entire quilt : )
Refer to Melanie K. Ham’s YouTube video ‘How to Sew No Waste Flying Geese’
The finished size of the block will be 3″x6″ (unfinished 3 1/2″ x 61/2″)
Fabric Requirement
For one block: one set of four flying geese
Fabric for the Geese (triangles): 7 1/2″ x 7 1/2″
Fabric for the Background: four pieces of 4″ x 4″ in the same fabric
Refer to the quilt photo above to see the desired effect of fabric variations if the blocks were to be assembled into a quilt. In general, a balance of solids and prints as well as a variety of values will make for a visually interesting quilt.
The only restrictions are:
• use white not cream if you are choosing a ‘white’ print/solid
• keep the amount of black to a minimum.
Instructions
1. Follow the video’s no waste assembly. You will have a block containing four geese.
2. To assemble the flying geese block, there are 6 options you may choose from.
