Economy Block with Fussy Cut Centre

This simple square-in-square block tutorial by Rachel Hauser of stitchedincolour includes a 4″ fussy cut centre block. The tutorial provides helpful tips when using directional fabrics. The unfinished block size is 8 1/2″. Photos from stitchedincolor


Fabric

  • Centre square:  4 1/2″ square with pattern for fussy cutting if desired
  • Layer 2:  5 1/4″ square in contrasting solid or print
  • Layer 3:  two 5 1/4″ squares in contrasting solid or print

Note: use your centre square to help choose fabrics for the 2nd and 3rd layers.
