What you need to know
Quilt Registration opens Sunday, May 1st
Quilt Registration closes Friday, June 10th (Midnight)
In order to register a quilt for the showcase, you must be a member in good standing of the VMQG at the time of registration.
In order to fund showcase expenses, a registration fee was included in your 2022 membership fee. The fee of $20 per guild member allows for a maximum registration of 4 quilts. This fee also includes 2 tickets to the show (a value of $7 each ticket) which you may use for yourself, family members, or sell/gift to friends. Guild members will require an entrance ticket.
Every guild member is guaranteed that their first-choice quilt will hang in the Showcase. Subsequent entries should be marked as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choice, and will hang on a ‘first come, first serve basis’ based on available space.
Modern Mini Challenge quilts will be counted as one of your 4 quilts, and your Mini Quilt is also guaranteed to hang in the show. Your Mini Quilt must comply with the Modern Mini Challenge instructions here.
Viewer’s choice voting
Visitors to the Showcase, and VMQG Members can vote for their three favourite quilts, and their favourite Mini Quilt. Ballots will be given at the Showcase and winners will be announced on Sunday, Aug 28th. Winning quilts will be awarded with a special Viewer’s Choice Ribbon.
What you need to do
1. Complete a Google Registration Form for each quilt you want to enter.
2. Upload a digital colour photo of the front and back of each quilt to this Google drive.
Photographs need to be named as follows:
Note: Photos of the back of mini quilts are not required.
Quilt drop off
Show-ready quilts (clean, labelled and with a secure hanging sleeve SEWN on.) Quilts and Mini Quilts may be dropped off at the August 15th Guild meeting between 7:00 – 9:00pm. If necessary, special arrangements can be made with Dawn Flotten to drop off quilts to her between August 16 to 23. Contact Dawn by email firstname.lastname@example.org to make those arrangements. Here is a good tutorial for adding a 4-inch sleeve to a quilt (Two ways: before the binding is sewn on, or adding a sleeve to a finished quilt.)
Quilt pick up
We take care of your quilt and want to ensure its safe return.A receipt will be issued to you when you drop off your quilt. Your receipt must be shown for quilt pickup between 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 (at the NE door of the showcase venue). People picking up quilts on behalf of VMQG Members must present the receipt at the time of pick up.
